Visits and collaborations of the mayor in Germany

The Mayor of Ioannina, Moses Elisaf, in the context of the political extroversion of the city of Ioannina, is visiting cities in Germany, with the first stop being the city of Schwerte, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

In this particular city, the mayor is Gianniotis Dimitris Axourgos, the first Greek mayor in the country. At the welcome meeting attended by the Greek Consul General in Dusseldorf, Mr. Koinis, issues of exchange of good practices and strengthening of relations between the two cities in areas such as Tourism, Culture, Innovation and Sustainable Development were discussed.

The ultimate goal of this exchange remains the twinning of the two cities in the immediate future.

This was followed by a visit to the city's Technology Park, where the general manager and the representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Dortmund briefed the delegation from Ioannina on issues of innovation, investment attraction and start-up development policies. At the same time, the possibility of cooperation between the Technology Parks and the Chambers was discussed.

The delegation from Ioannina was then guided to the monuments of the Jewish heritage of Sverte, while it also visited the Jewish community of the neighboring town of Unna, where it was received with particular warmth.

The visit to Germany takes place with the active support of the Hellenic-German Assembly, to which the municipal authority also warmly thanks.
